• Notes

  Convicted in 1936 of falsifying share deposit books, withdrawal books and ledgers of Clowne Co-operative Society and of uttering forged documents, and sentenced to three years. It was alleged that he had embezzled about £12,500 but this charge was not proceeded with because, apparently, they could not prove where it had gone to. Employed by Clowne Co-op from 1921.
