Marriage to Elizabeth Brown is incorrect judging by censuses.
No records. There is no reference in the censuses. Since he is referred to as 'sometime commission merchant in Glasgow' in his father's will, this suggests that it was not known where he was or what he was doing at the time that the will was written. However, it was known that he died in Tacna, Peru by virtue of a reference on his father's gravestone in Irvine churchyard.
